The Paul M. Angell Family Foundation is thrilled to welcome Jessica Matta as the Grants Manager. Jessica will manage and execute the grantmaking processes and policies of the foundation. She will provide technical support and guidance to applicants and grantee partners.
Jess Matta (she/her/hers) joined the Paul M. Angell Family Foundation (PMAFF) in 2023. With a background spanning several dynamic careers, Jess brings a wealth of experience to her role as Grants Manager.
Jess’ professional journey began at Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc. (formerly known as Discovery, Inc.) as an accountant on the Corporate Accounting team. In her time there, she played a key role in streamlining accounting processes, facilitating system transitions, and providing vital financial insights to senior management.
Feeling compelled to make more of a direct and transformative impact on individuals and communities, Jess moved from DC to Chicago to teach high school mathematics. In this role, she bridged educational gaps and nurtured the growth of students through innovative teaching practices, data-driven instruction, and social-emotional learning.
These distinct careers converged when Jess found her calling in philanthropy. As a Grants Manager at The Brinson Foundation, she utilized her keen eye for detail, strong commitment to operational efficiency, and proactive approach to problem-solving to support mission-driven work.
Jess now leverages her diverse experiences and skill set to ensure PMAFF’s efforts have a far-reaching and lasting impact in the community.
Outside of the office, Jess can be found at home (cuddling her partner and dog, lounging, playing board games, or reading), exploring the city she now calls home (going out to dinner, dancing, concerts, the movies, or the lake), or traveling to visit loved ones.
Jess holds a dual Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Information Systems and a Master’s degree in Teaching.
