Brandon Lopez

Brandon joined the Paul M. Angell Family Foundation in 2025 as a Program Associate on the Social Impact team, where he supports the team’s mission to uplift marginalized communities across Chicago through funding transformative initiatives in policy, advocacy, and community-centered programs. His cross-sector experience enables him to collaborate with the portfolio’s variety of grantee partners in areas such as Education, Democracy, Social Justice, Economic Empowerment, and Safe & Healthy Communities.

A Gage Park native, Brandon witnessed the impact of disinvestment firsthand, sparking his passion for driving change in education, economic opportunity, policy design, and the arts. He has extensive experience in Youth Development, Higher Education, Civic Engagement, Health Equity, and Racial/Gender Justice, and has collaborated with communities across Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, and Kalamazoo. Through fellowships with the Chicago Community Trust Young Leaders Fund and Crossroads Fund Giving Project, Brandon honed his expertise in equitable grantmaking and trust-based philanthropy. He has also contributed to organizations such as Mikva Challenge, Chicago Scholars, City Year, and Communities in Schools, focusing on community-centered program development and equity-driven initiatives.

Previously, as a Workforce Student Advisor & Corporate Partnerships Advisor at AllCampus, Brandon helped expand access to higher education for historically underrepresented students in the workforce. He remains committed to social impact through his work with New Leaders Council, Young Leaders Fund, the Giving Project, and his service on the Chicago Scholars Associate Board.

Brandon holds a B.A. in Critical Ethnic Studies and Philosophy, with minors in Political Science and Anthropology/Sociology, from Kalamazoo College. He is passionate about understanding humanity’s history and societal systems through a decolonial lens, striving to imagine a future rooted in empathy, democracy, and collaboration. A practicing visual artist, he also enjoys weightlifting, traveling, and engaging in meaningful philosophical discussions.
